Do not go gentle into that good night

“Do not go gentle into that good night”, like the poem by Welsh author Dylan Thomas, the pieces proposed in this exhibition by artist Jimmy Ruf evoke the metaphysics of the great universal question that animates every human being: the understanding of its own finitude. How can a living being conceptualize the end of everything?

Some will seek an answer in palliative measures: in the illusions of religion and art, deflecting energies in to work and family life, or intoxication though drugs, sex, food etc… anything to extirpate oneself from the omnipresent unthinkable.

The rage to live is one of the facets of which the human animal can be proud, although doomed to failure, proclaiming loud and clear that it does not enter this good night peacefully.
